Petting Zoo & Farm
Heifer Stations' history spans back to its days as one of NSW biggest cattle stations. The fertile soil is perfect for producing quality feed and to this day beef cattle still graze amongst the vineyard and headland in the winter and adjacent paddocks through the harvest months. The station is also home to our small herd of alpacas – headed by the friendly ‘Snowy’. A recent addition to the property are our three highland cattle – Curly, Larry and Mo-nique. Children and BIG kids can get up close and personal with the farm animals in the ‘Funny Farm’ adjacent to the tasting room. Tiny kids can feed our funky chooks (Bantams and Polish Hens) or Tom and Jaz the resident goats. Brutus, our black face Suffolk sheep, likes the quiet life and is often in the background – on good days he’ll eat from your hand. Perhaps the most famous of all our farm animals is Tilly the mini Shetland – some wineries have wine dogs -we have a wine pony. Tilly would have to be the most photographed pony in Australia.
The petting zoo and farm is open every weekend and every day during the festivals and school holidays.
